Since 2019, Retrofit Canada has been building a case study library to support deep retrofit professionals with real-world examples, technical insights, and lessons learned from completed projects. Over the past five years, our library has grown to include over 25 residential deep retrofit case studies.
Now, with support from NRCan’s Greener Neighbourhoods Pilot Program, and in collaboration with the Green Building Technology Access Centre, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, we have completely redeveloped our case study library to make this valuable information even more accessible, flexible, and easy to use.
While the design and overall user interface did not change, the biggest improvements were behind the scenes—we have built a database platform from the ground up that supports better data management, better open-source access, and better asset management. What we’re truly excited about is the capacity this tool has for continuous improvement. This means that as the library grows and we collect more case studies, Retrofit Canada will be able to add new features to document and share what we’re learning from completed retrofits across the country.
