Job Title: Executive Director
Location: Remote or hybrid based out of Edmonton, Alberta
Organization: Retrofit Canada
Term: 18-month contract, with the possibility of extension based on funding
Compensation: $86,000 to $110,000 per year
About the Role
Retrofit Canada is a national nonprofit dedicated to sharing solutions, removing barriers, and accelerating deep retrofits across Canada. We publish case studies, produce public education materials, host webinars, and support research that strengthens the retrofit sector.
We’re looking for an Executive Director who is comfortable leading and doing—someone who can manage subcontractors and budgets while also writing, researching, developing communications, and building relationships. About one-quarter of the role focuses on leadership and oversight, while the remainder involves hands-on project delivery.
If you enjoy variety, like switching between strategy and execution, and want to support meaningful climate action in Canada’s building sector, this role offers a unique opportunity. You’ll join a respected national organisation known for practical, solutions-focused work and strong collaboration across industry, government, and academia. You’ll work closely with experts in building science, policy, and sustainability, contributing to work that helps Canada transition to low-carbon buildings. The role is flexible, mission-driven, and grounded in real-world impact—with room to shape the position as the organisation grows.
What You’ll Do
You’ll guide Retrofit Canada’s work and contribute directly to project delivery. This includes managing contractors, supporting research, producing communications, and coordinating public education activities. A key focus for this role will be to secure additional funding for Retrofit Canada.
